My approach to therapy blends evidence-based care with a holistic view of healing. I believe that everyone’s specific needs and challenges are unique, and that therapy should be both effective and adapted to fit you. I emphasize the importance of looking at you as a whole person within a larger context. Through understanding the ways your mind, body, and social environment interact, I work with you to reinforce your existing strengths and build skills for navigating the realities of your life. This may include attending to your body, connecting with nature, and fostering safe, meaningful relationships. I believe healing happens through reconnecting with yourself in ways that feel grounding, empowering, and authentic.

I'm Dr. Liz Parisi (she/they), a licensed psychologist offering online therapy in all PSYPACT participating states. You can find out if your state is included in PSYPACT here.

Therapeutic Approach

Knowing more about who I am and where I come from may help you decide if you want to work together. I’m open to answering any questions about myself that would be helpful for you to know.

My family heritage is Italian and I was born in the United States within a family of immigrants. I grew up in the Hudson Valley, NY, and lived in NY until I moved to Milwaukee, WI in 2017. Since then, I’ve made the Midwest my home.

I hold a lot of privilege as a white, able-bodied, queer-identified (but often cishet-passing) person moving through the world. I work hard to be mindful of the ways my identities impact my work, do my own work of deconstructing whiteness and white supremacy, and encourage discussion of the impact of identities in the therapeutic relationship.

In terms of education and training, I completed my undergraduate education in Psychology at Stony Brook University and received a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. I have extensive experience working with adults, teens and families in inpatient, IOP, and outpatient settings. I am trained in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), cognitive-behavioral approaches (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Habit Reversal Training (HRT), Unified Protocol (UP)) and trauma-focused treatments (Prolonged Exposure (PE) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT)). I am also passionate about seeking training in liberation-based approaches to psychotherapy and adapting treatments to better support healing and empowerment for those with marginalized identities.

In my free time, I engage with another passion of mine: feral cat rescue. I also find a lot of joy in journaling, crafting, thrifting and finding ways to be in nature.
